Pick-up instructions

How to grab your car:

  1. Touch down at HBA (Hobart International Airport) and grab any bags at baggage collection.
  2. Head outside through the main terminal exit, and take a right.
  3. Walk past the car rental offices and cross the street at a pedestrian crossing after the SkyBus stop.
  4. Walk to the Drive Car Hire key lockbox. Refer to your personalised instructions to unlock your car keys.
  5. Use your keys to unlock your vehicle.
  6. Get on the road!

Driving in Australia

Quick tips:

  • We drive on the left-hand side of the road.
  • Speed limits are strictly enforced.
  • Overtaking: only pass on the right. Never across solid white lines.
  • Give way to your right at roundabouts and unmarked intersections.
  • Foreign visitors can drive with a valid overseas license, but if it’s not in English, you must carry an International Driving Permit (IDP) or accredited translation.
  • Please be cautious of wildlife – especially at dawn and dusk!
  • Call 000 for emergency services.

What are the standard opening hours of the HBA terminal?

Hobart Airport (HBA) is typically open daily at 4am until 10:30pm. They adjust their opening hours to suit arriving and departing flights when necessary.

Is it possible to stay overnight in the terminal?

No, Hobart International Airport closes from 10:30pm until 4am and is unable to accommodate overnight travellers.

What happens to my car if my flight is delayed?

Your car will be ready for you no matter what time you touch down. We ask for your flight details so that we can stay on track and monitor your flight and provide the best possible service.

Contactless pickup at HBA is available around the clock, and you will have our clear instructions sent directly to you

When can I return the car at HBA?

Your return is also contactless, so you can return your car hire at Hobart Airport at your convenience. Please keep in mind the terms of your rental contract and notify us if you will be late in returning the vehicle for any reason.

If you want to return the car to our Hobart city location, this is also possible. Just contact us to arrange an alternative pickup or drop-off destination.

Do you do one-way car hire?
